The Margaret Chase Smith Center of Public Policy at the University of Maine has assisted us in conducting research concerning the out-migration of almost 50% of our population over the past 25 years. This survey will help us understand more about the population loss of the Katahdin Region and how to stop the outflow of our young people
A survey was sent to over 1,100 former residents of the area with a 60% response rate. We asked people about their thoughts and experiences regarding reasons for leaving the area, any desire they might have to return, links they have here, where they are now and what they are doing.
